October 1, 2018

Dear Voyager Families,

The speed at which the trees and weather change inspires us to relish these wonderful, fleeting moments with our children; but let’s take a minute to look at happenings at Voyager.

We are pleased by the added bus stop from Ouray school to Voyager in the afternoon, expanding our after-school enrichment and teen center to Ouray students.

We are thrilled to be presenting life skills curricula and programs in Ouray County schools.  Visit the website or call for more information about our programs and curricula in and out of the schools. During our after-school enrichment this month, we continue exploring the world around us through art, cooking, science, and library research.

As always, Voyager offers full day programming when school is out Monday through Thursday, excepting holidays, and as long as at least 6 children are registered to attend one week in advance.   That makes Thursday, October 18th, our first full day for both Ridgway and Ouray.  We will celebrate the season with a trip to the Ridgway State Park as The Buffalo Woman, Sonny Shelton, will lead the children in building a  wiki-up for the park.  Please register online at www.voyageryouthprogram or call the office at 970-626-4279 to register.  As stated, we must have at least 6 students signed up by October 11th in order provide childcare that day.  Since Ouray will be out on Monday, October 22nd, we are planning a full day visiting the museum as long as we have 6 children registered by October 15th.  The free teen center for seventh through twelfth graders ages 12 to 18, Basecamp, will also be open from 11 to 5:30 on the 18th.

Indoor Sports starts soon with third, fourth, and fifth grade basketball Montrose rec. league starting October 23rd.  Stay tuned for more information this week.

Looking ahead, Voyager will be closed the week between Christmas and New Years but open the second week of winter break.  Basecamp will also be closed the first week of break and open the second, as it is always open after school and in conjunction with the elementary program.  While this first week of January is still a work in progress, the entire fall calendar is available online and here.

            Happy Autumn!

Sincerely,

Danelle Hughes Norman
