The month of March has zipped by while the first signs of spring emerge into singing birds and blossoming trees. Indeed, the air is abuzz at Voyager as the Ouray County Communities that Care Coalition continues to implement strategies that address our risk factors of favorable attitudes towards teen substance use and availability of substances. We will host the second half of the Community Board Orientation just after spring break. This tested and proven methodical approach will provide a strong foundation for an effective community coalition. For more information, check out the website. Congratulations to Amelia Hawse for creating the winning CTC logo and to Raven Snader for creating the winning basecamp logo, displayed above.
Next week is spring break! Voyager will be closed for spring cleaning, but reopen for the full day Monday, April 9th. We will visit Ouray Hotsprings.
Speaking of fun in the Rockies, the summer calendar is posted on the website . Although it is still a work in progress that is waiting for confirmation, the themes and activities are laid out. We are excited to study the world around us with the “-ology” theme. Through a National Recreation Foundation grant, we are offering free Western Slope Rides shuttle service from Ouray for summer enrichment participants. The cost of a full day at Voyager is $40 and a full week (Monday through Thursday) is $150. If you register and pay before May 1st, you receive a 15% discount. Simply enter EarlyBird into the promo code field at checkout. If you register and pay the month prior to the month of use, you receive a 10% discount. The updated parent handbook and the new enrollment forms are also available on the website. You are required to complete a new enrollment packet and submit updated immunization records before your child can attend summer enrichment.
We are happy to announce that TANF scholarship funds are available for summer enrichment again this year! You must register by May 25th to be eligible. Registration forms are available online. As always, we are honored to collaborate with you, the schools, and the community in inspiring your child to lead a healthy life.
